Thai Souvenir?

June 5, 2008
Bangkok, Thailand

These are silver and gold coated Buddha images. They are only around 1.5 inch in length. We found these outside a temple on a circular plate below a statue (I think of Buddha as well). We didn't know what they were ... are these souvenirs that people can take? I really don't know. They looked, though, more like offerings.

I can't find where mine is now. hehehe (^O^)v

Mystery of the Headless Statues

May 5, 2008
Wat Mahatat, Ayutthaya (Thailand)

Scattered all over the ruins are countless numbers of headless buddha statues. What happened to all these statues? Where they ruined during a war? Stolen? Purposedly taken by the care takers (Possibly to highlight the head in the tree)?

Looking at the picture closely, and while editing it, I swear I saw a silhouette of a head and an arm......

Trivia: A sign on the entrance depicts that standing behind the statue and taking a picture with your head as replacement is prohibited. (but we all love to do what is prohibited right? hehehe)

Picture also edited using fake HDR technique then followed by Orton effect.
